about

Here's a slightly longer version of the previous patch, with some alterations - was about to pull the patch down, but decided to quickly try the Piston Honda out in a higher register....and it immediately sounded cool/ bizarre (The Piston does very strange things when set to high frequencies, as it starts spitting and aliasing like crazy. Normally I'm not a massive fan of this, but on the Piston it sounds excellent - especially when running through a lovely filter like the CLEE LPG)

Instead of the a149-1, the 4ms PEG was used to modulate the CLEE's cutoff and resonance - whilst also controllling the "YON" CV input of the Piston Honda (to change wavetables). The PEG was set up as follows: a random gate from the a149-2 was sent to PING it; the Division was modulated by an a149-1 output; the left hand envelope's EOR output was used to ping the right hand side; and the right had side's Division was set to halve the rate. This is a setup that I use a lot, as you get a varied, rhythmic pattern from the left envlope, and then the right hand one follows this pattern, but at half speed - and slightly afterwards. Towards the end of the recording the Skew on the right side envelope was changed from 12 o'clock (smooth "lfo-like" shape) to 8 o'clock, turning it into a percussive shape which pings the CLEE LPG.

The a149-1 was still used to control the "HITHER" wavetable CV input and the main pitch, but a cycling Maths envelope was also applied to the Piston's frequency/ pitch CV input, to slowly sweep it into aliasing territory and out again.

As in the previous patch, various controls were manipulated during the recording: CLEE cutoff/ resonance/ CV amounts; Maths Rise/ Fall times and output attenuator; PEG Division and output attenuators; EKO Feedback/ Mix and Rate etc...
